Buterbaugh received his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Penn State University. While at West Virginia, he was a Graduate Assistant with the West Virginia University Bands, including three concert ensembles and the 350-member WVU Mountaineers Marching Band - The Pride of West Virginia. Buterbaugh is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he completed a Master's degree in Trombone Performance under Dr. Buterbaugh is the Director of Bands at Hershey High School, where he directs the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Trojan Marching Band, and Jazz Band.
